The Ideal Night Routine: How to prepare for a successful Day in the Evening
The key to a successful day lies in the night routine. Evening rituals help you prepare for the next morning. In the following article, I'll take you through my personal night routine and show you how you too can prepare for a successful and productive day.
Why have a night routine?
A successful day starts with a restful night.
Personally, a night routine is important to me because it helps me end the day and prepare the body and mind for rest. Many people don't take the time for a night routine, but it can help regulate the sleep cycle and relieve stress. In addition, it important to prepare for the day.
My night routine
Before I go to sleep, there are some things I like to do. As a rule, I go to bed at 22:00. For my routine to be successful, I start getting ready at 8:15 pm at the latest. First I put on the appropriate clothes, brush my teeth and clean my face. For this, I need about 15 minutes.
After that, I spend about 20 minutes getting my clothes ready for the next day. I often get inspiration from Pinterest (before I log out of the virtual world and put my phone away). This step helps me save time and avoid stress in the morning.
Then I do a pair of stretching exercises for 10 minutes to relax my body. Since I have a weak bladder, I have been avoiding drinking tea before sleeping. For those who don't have this problem, I recommend a warm cup of chamomile tea to relax.
Depending on which exercise I end with, I either lie or sit on my mat to reflect on the day: "What went well today? What could I have done better? Who made me angry today and who did I make happy today? What am I grateful for?" - These are questions I sometimes ponder. Then I get my notebook and write down all my thoughts. I take about 30 minutes for this. It helps me to clear my head.
Then I plan my to-do list for the next day. This takes about 10 minutes. Once I'm done with that I take the time to talk to God in prayer. Sometimes I read afterward or I just close my eyes and fall asleep ;)
More tips for the ideal night routine
If you want to simplify your evening routine, try to use your time effectively. Don't get bogged down with unnecessary things. Furthermore, it is important to relax your body and mind and keep a positive attitude. Avoid drinking caffeinated drinks, and eating sweet and/or fatty things just before sleeping. This is because it can interfere with digestion and cause restless sleep. Also, don't get too worked up or worried in the evening, as this releases stress hormones and thus affects sleep.
